What: Miracle fruit is a strange fruit that tricks your taste buds into thinking that sour things you are tasting is sweet.
Cost: $10 covers the cost of the miraculin and the samples
Background on the Fruit:
The miracle fruit, Synsepalum dulcificum, is native to West Africa and has been known to Westerners since the 18th century. The cause of the reaction is a protein called miraculin, which binds with the taste buds and acts as a sweetness inducer when it comes in contact with acids.
Note: Besides highlighting one of the strangest fruits in the world, Flavor Tripping Houston events support local nonprofits devoted to Science and Technology education.
P.s. Miracle Fruit is both safe and legal.
