Part of our mission at TXRX Labs is to not only seek opportunities to learn, create and innovate, but to also facilitate this enthusiasm within the Houston community.
Our recent approval as a Department of Labor Apprenticeship Provider further propels us to achieve this, and with funding from JP Morgan Chase, United Way, and the Texas Workforce Commission, TXRX will be training 36 Houstonians to become CNC Machinists.
The program will provide skills training to youth and adults with an overall objective to facilitate employment offers from firms in need of machinists. We will work with 12 adults receiving up skilling, or additional training allowing the adults to earn higher wages, in addition to having space for 24 opportunity youth (ages 16-24) who are currently out of school and work.
To further assist trainees, we’re collaborating with Wesley Community Center who will be offering financial coaching and wrap around services. WCC additionally will help with case management, access to their financial saving programs and food co-op to assist trainees and their families.
